Colin Mills
Colin MillsFounder & Chairman - The FD Centre Limited
Colin Mills is the Founder and Chairman of The FD Centre Limited, and has over 20 years of financial director experience in UK, USA and European businesses with turnovers of £2 million to £500 million. A member of the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants and Institute Prize Winner, Colin also has an MBA from Henley. His industry experience covers construction, FMCG, retail, food, IT, contracting services, building products, paper, printing and property development.

Before setting up the FD Centre in 2001, Colin worked for major organisations like the Mars Group (Global US owned), Benders (UK privately owned FMCG/ paper products group), The Scholes Group plc (now part of Hanson Industries), Clifford Foods plc (now part of Unigate), and The Bradley Group (now part of Aggregate Industries), in both FD and CEO roles. Colin has developed the following FD Centre programmes: Keeping Control in Fast Growth Companies, Survival Solutions for Companies under Pressure, and Managing Business Change “Fast” – a specific FD Centre methodology developed originally.

Ian Young
Ian YoungCEO - The CFO Centre Limited
Ian is the Chief Executive Officer of The CFO Centre Limited and has over 25 years experience in both public and private companies within Canada and the UK. A Chartered Accountant with a BSc from the University of Western Ontario, Ian provided the financial leadership as CFO for some of Canada’s leading national brand name retailers such as Chapters/Indigo, Blockbuster Canada, Holt Renfrew and The Source.

Ian’s expertise includes sourcing and refinancing of debt, mergers & acquisitions, business turnarounds, restructuring, strategic planning and driving improvements in productivity and profitability. During his career, Ian has focused on ensuring there is organizational & cultural alignment with strategic goals supported by implementation of management information systems to measure performance. Ian has found this process to be the key to profitable growth and success.

Ian is also a Board member on two children’s charity organizations.

Patrick Brooker
Patrick BrookerAdvisor
Patrick has over 30 years experience covering the Financial Services Sector (TD), Transportation/Logistics (Loomis and Purolator Courier) and Corporate Travel (HRG plc). During the past 15 years, he was the Chief Financial Decision Maker where he gained significant expertise and skills in; acquisitions/divestitures, financial restructuring through LBO’s, MBO’s and IPO’s, business consolidation in Canada and the USA, project management, system integration and enhanced business reporting including SQI’s, and KPI’s all aligned to business strategy and goals.

He has championed all aspects of Shared Services including Finance/Accounting, Facilities, Business Technology and Human Resources (achieved the Globe and Mail 50 Best Employers award)

Patrick’s international expertise ranges from North America (NYC, Toronto) and two years in the UK where he had oversight for global strategy development (42 countries) and special projects to rationalize global synergies as a result of the economic downturn in 2008.

A graduate from Ryerson University(Business), he earned his CGA designation in 1983.

Patrick lives by the motto, “Measure what you can influence and change what you can measure.”

Derryn Shrosbree
Derryn ShrosbreePrivate Wealth Manager
Derryn spent ten years trading institutional high yield credit derivatives at desks in Tokyo and New York City at tier 1 corporations including BNP Paribus and Bear Stearns.

Derryn has a Masters Degree in Mathematics from the London School of Economics.

Derryn is a private wealth manager who specializes in optimizing businesses and business owners comprehensively looking at tax planning, corporate structure, estate planning, cash management, risk management, asset allocation, and tax efficient charitable giving.

When not serving the needs of his clients, Derryn spends his time writing about financial matters.

Todd Blair

Todd Blair is a Co-Founder of the Sales Enablement Centre (previously Hummingbird Advisors), and has over 20 years of hands-on executive leadership experience in the Consumer Packaged Goods, Loyalty Marketing, Media, and E-Commerce sectors.

Before creating the Sales Enablement Centre in 2012, Todd worked for a mix of public and private organizations like News Corporation, Rolf C. Hagen, Advantex Marketing, Launch Pad Marketing and Dealfind.

Todd’s unique combination of senior sales leadership and owner/operator experience, provides him the ability to effectively advise owners and executive teams with strong conviction as “I have been in your shoes”. Todd is passionate about helping small to mid size entrepreneurial companies grow.

Todd lives in Mississauga with his wife Joanna, daughters Vanessa and Olivia. The Blair’s are avid outdoor enthusiasts who spend their play-time in Grey County skiing, hiking and biking.

Sanjay Desai

Sanjay Desai is a Co-Founder of the Sales Enablement Centre (previously Hummingbird Advisors) and has over 15 years experience as an executive leader, entrepreneur, and trusted advisor.

Sanjay has worked in the Technology, Software, Hardware, Infrastructure, Transit, Government Procurement, Film, and E-Commerce sectors working with start-ups and large private and public corporations including Constellation Software Inc. and it’s group of companies.

Sanjay brings judgment and a business perspective gained from working within a successful technology company as part of the team that aggressively grew the business, and took it public. With a background in law, Sanjay also brings a dimension to growth planning that encompasses structuring, risk mitigation, and disciplined use of oversight/insight process to amplify activity.

Outside of the Sales Enablement Centre, Sanjay enjoys time with his family, the outdoors, travelling, and reading.

Ashu Avasthi
Ashu AvasthiRegional Director

Ashu brings a 15-year track record as a senior executive in the Technology, Commercial Data Solutions, and E-Commerce sectors to Sales Enablement Centre. His public and private sector work focuses on startup development and turn-around operations.

Before joining the Sales Enablement Centre (previously Hummingbird Advisors) in 2011, Ashu worked for a mix of public and private organizations like Bell Canada, Dun and Bradstreet and Dealfind.

Ashu’s unique combination of senior sales leadership and extensive operations background, provide him the ability to connect operational improvements and sales coaching for the frontline into profitable and sustainable revenue growth.

Ashu lives in Oakville with his wife Pamela and their two daughters. The Avasthi’s are avid travellers and enjoy the outdoors.
Vince Cryne
Vince brings over 20 years of senior management and advisory experience to the Sales Enablement Centre. He has driven business improvement results for firms in several market verticals including Manufacturing, Healthcare and Technology.

This includes work with start-ups, mid-size, and multinationals such as Wormald Canada/Tyco International, and Carlson Marketing Group (where he developed business improvement solutions for clients including Telus, Shell, Petro-Canada, and Investors Group).

Vince also developed international business in Africa and Asia and is Past Chairman, International Trade Committee, Calgary Chamber of Commerce, and a former Board of Directors, Calgary Economic Development and Trade.

As an advisor, Vince has executed projects helping companies overcome challenges drawing on his skill set in the areas of: sales strategy, sales process and channel management, employee engagement, loyalty marketing, marketing communications and branding, go-to-market, business planning, strategic marketing, online digital marketing.

Originally from England, and after spending time in Western Canada, Vince is currently living in the Kitchener-Waterloo area of Ontario and enjoys skiing, golf and travel.
Wayne Marcus

Wayne has 20+ years of senior management experience within the North American retail and distribution space with Hudson’s Bay Company, Winners, Hugo Boss and Sporting Life.

Wayne created the first off-price Menswear department for Winners Canada growing it from 5 to 200 stores and annual revenues of $250M+. Wayne uses his extensive knowledge of retail and brand distribution to help manufacturers and retailers gain market share and drive top line growth through a concentrated effort on strategy, training and development.

Wayne attended the University of Western Ontario where he majored in Political Science. While accepted to both Law school and the MBA program at the Richard Ivey School of Business, after attending both programs and not satisfied with either he found a home in the Philosophy department where he led a class in Logic and graduated with a Master of Arts degree.

Originally from Brooklyn NY, and now a dual citizen, Wayne has been in Toronto most of his life and currently resides in Toronto with his wife and three children.
Paul Nagpal

Paul has over a decade of experience in Management Consulting, working at Deloitte, AT Kearney and Strateva Partners. He has developed go-to-market, customer acquisition, and new market-entry strategies; he also helps companies with merger integration, restructuring, and turnarounds. Paul’s assistance spans from the design and development stage through implementation and execution. His experience crosses most industries, but his current focuses are in tech, food, health, and energy.

Paul is a co-founder and Managing Director at Strateva Partners, a mid-market advisory firm helping companies with revenue and profit growth as well as M&A and financial strategy.

Paul is also on a number of boards and acts as an advisor for startups. He has an MBA from the Rotman School of Management at University of Toronto and an Engineering degree from the University of Waterloo.
Bruce Pippard

Bruce brings 25+ years of senior management experience in the Manufacturing, Distribution and CPG sectors to the Sales Enablement Centre.

Bruce has a proven track record of driving explosive growth in the roles of President, General Manager & Sales Leader for companies like Illinois Tool Works (Fortune 500 company), Shulton, RC Hagen and DCMG.

Prior to joining the Sales Enablement Centre, Bruce has been advising SMBs in the development of annual and long range strategic growth plans, change management, coaching and mentoring and IT Outsourcing services.

Bruce lives by the motto of “if you can’t measure it, don’t do it!”.

Originally from Vancouver, Bruce now lives in Mississauga and enjoys boating on Georgian Bay, golf and adventure travel.
Bruce Caven
Bruce has over 25 years of experience in sales, business development and operations in the media, technology and telecommunications sectors.

He has an excellent track record of managing, creating and driving revenues and profitability as a Vice President or General Manager for companies such as Pelmorex Media Inc.(The Weather Network), Shaw Tracking(formerly Canadian Satellite Communications Inc.) and fONOROLA.

Bruce has been instrumental in several “positive” turn-around situations and has also spearheaded strategic acquisitions. Earlier is his career, he founded a start up wireless services operation in Canada providing mobile wireless data communications services. He is a very effective mentor and team player and is skilled at enabling sales teams to perform at their highest levels. He has a “role up your sleeves” attitude which always drives positive performance from those he is coaching.

Originally from Ottawa where he obtained his B.Comm at Carleton University, Bruce lives in Toronto and has three children. He is very active with his local community tennis club as its President and is an avid skier and hockey player.
